This is a nice boot. It looks good, it fits well, very comfortable and so far it seems pretty durable. If using for hiking I don't think it would be one to go on a multi-month adventure like the Appalachian Trail or anything but is solid enough to do day hikes and light backpacking. The leather is nice and soft. Not hard to break in. The ankle support is not too bad either.

The one thing that would make this an outstanding boot is if Merrell would make it with GoreTex. The waterproof lining does not breathe well at all causing your feet to sweat pretty bad. GoreTex would allow your feet to breathe a lot better. I've never had a GoreTex boot to cause my feet to sweat in cool late fall weather, but this non-GoreTex waterproof causes my feet to sweat pretty bad.

Its a quality boot that looks good and is very comfortable, just not very breathable. I wear mine every day because sometimes I don't know where I'll end up walking due my job, etc. I'd recommend this boot if you can get past the feet sweat issue.
