I was always concered with the foot comfort of knee-high boots, but with this particular item, it was an issue with the shaft/opening (I am 5'3" with semi-muscular calves). I figured based upon the provided dimensions, and that it looks like it could stretch, it would work for me. I was very wrong. First off, these are very beautiful boots! They are quality made leather boots. While you can buy faux or man-made materials for about a 1/3 less than a boot like this, you ultimate get what you pay for. Plus, it's worth the investment to just spend a little more for a quality product that may last you a really long time. I love the traction sole, the soft interior and sturdiness of the boot. The color is accurate in the picture and it does go up to the knee. I'm just a little disappointed it couldn't stretch just the 1/2 inch I needed. It looked like my calf had muffin top! lol! Anyways, sending these back and actually getting a different timberland boot--- specifially one that is designed for wide calves.

CAROLINA SHOE Men's 6" External Metguard (Brown 13.0 2E) Review

How the boot fell apart was the boot sole actually split in half across the width of the boot while walking. The entire sole split all the way through with no other damage to the boot. I contacted the manufacturer, Carolina, who admitted to me that the boot was defective but their their return policy was to return the boots to the retailer. In this case it was SHOES.COM via Amazon.com. I have usually been completely satisfied with Amazon.com and their customer service but this situation was different. Amazon.com had me get in contact with the actual retailer SHOES.COM and SHOES.COM has you reply to them outside of Amazon.com's email service so Amazon.com does not have record of their correspondence.

So after Carolina told me it was a defective product and there was a 1 year warranty in place I followed through by filing a claim for defective product as I was told to do. SHOES.COM responded to me saying my boots were in fact not defective and there was no return and "no recourse" available. Amazon.com stated that I could not file an A-Z claim as it was past the standard claim time. And then SHOES.COM left a comment on Amazon.com stating more than 90 days had passed.

So in a nutshell, I purchased a defective boot and even though the manufacturer agreed that it was defective and covered under a 1 year warranty, you can not return this item if you get a defective product. I will go out of my way in the future to not purchase shoes from SHOES.COM because of this one issue alone. Buyer Beware.

**UPDATE**
After requesting tracking information for the return of my boots I received an email from SHOES.COM saying they were unable to provide tracking information. So they have now effectively simply taken the boots away and refused to replace them or refund them, now accusing me of being frustrated with their return policy. If my defective boots are ever returned to me I will post a video review to show the damage of the split sole.

Bought these shoes last December to start learning how to Latin dance. They were a bit tight at first, but have since stretched out. Great price for how long they've lasted. When I received them, they were clean and brand new. They actually came a lot quicker than expected, especially considering it was winter time (storms slow down air transport) and it traveled literally from the east coast to the west coast. The one issue I have with these are that sometimes my smaller toes slip out, but that just might be me. I love how flexible they are, I love pointing in them and it lets me articulate the feet/feel the floor really well. Debating whether to stick to these for my next pair or try something in better quality. I bought the cinnamon color one and it really complimented me well- even used them in showcase.
