I wanted to tell you what I know about this make and model of shoe since it helps buyers choose a size. I have a low volume woman's foot (kinda skinny, also not "thick" top to sole) but I have a mild-moderate bunion so need width in the forefoot. The shoe I have, women's, is too small but I am wearing it as I await my men's pair just bought here.My foot measures as a woman's 10 on measuring apparatus. But I have full length orthotics (graphite, hard ones) and I wear an additional Tulli's Heel Cup in the heel which takes up more volume and perhaps a little length. My current shoes are "woman's" (Not sure if there are different lasts for men vs women but I suspect they are the exact same shoe) of THIS shoe size 42.5 which at least Amazon says is a woman's 10.5 rather than the 11 I thought it was. The shoe is FOOT SHAPED, which I love. It gives ample room -nice rounded/wide forefoot on the shoe...for the toes, bunions, neuromas...the toes can spread out enough so that it is good for your use of your intrinsic foot muscles (helps keep your foot strong even in shoes). But this size is too small for me, The widest part of my foot is too far to the toe end of the shoe and does not lie where the widest part of the shoe is. So I needed a bigger size
I've been taking 10.5 in woman's shoes but am finding with many athletic shoes I need 11. Well, in this brand and model, the biggest woman's size is 42.5 European, which is only 10.5 US. women's they say here. Yet, so oddly, when I go look at this men's shoe which FYI looks identical, the 42.5 is a men's 9.5. Hmm...that' s only one size difference between women and men's sizing and that is incorrect so something about the sizing is amiss or unusual. I say all this for the women who might be buying but also for you men so you know that this shoe likely runs short in length.
Since the forefoot does rub the sides of my toes especially after being on my feet the other day, I wouldnt' mid a wider shoe. Luckily men's regular is a D width (women's reg is a B width but their wide is a D width, same as men's)which is my wide. But I also needed the length so have bought the men's shoe, 10 Regular, which is European size 43, D width.
We'll see if their are irregularities. These are only one tiny European half size up from what I had before so they better not be too long.
I have chronic severe heel pain to the extent I need a cane at times. I know for a fact that these shoes have enough cushion (my orthotics do not have much). The uppers, being generous in their leather (suade) even on the sides, hold up longer before deforming and allowing my foot to slip outward inside my orthotic...they hold my foot ON my orthotic and my gait, (this is a structural issue with my orthotics that I'm addressing.)which orthotics are meant to correct if needed, was much better than when using the newer but flimsier running shoes I have.
These are attractive, comfortable "foot shaped" shoes that though cushioned enough, do make you still feel you have the ground under you beneath. SO I can understand perceptions by some that it wasn't padded enough. It worked though even for my injured heels.
