I was looking for a replacement for the Gravity Defyer shoes that radically helped my back, but were so poorly built that the springs squeaked, the shoe wore out easily, and they were just plain ugly (including the sperm symbol on the side).

The Spira was cleanly designed, looked good, both at work and for casual use, and was contructed with better quality materials.

However, there was not as much spring as I was hoping, and the toe area also has a vertical piece of leather that frays as the toe is scraped against objects (as did the Defyers).

While there was not as much spring effect, it still is a better shoe for my back than my non-spring type walking shoes!

Which is why I rated it a 4 out of 5 stars.
