Actually Marj's husband here: I have a couple pairs of propet shoes as they make them wide enough (men's 9 5E), but they mostly seem built for light duty and gentle use. HOWEVER, I bought these Outbbounds May of 2011 in brown for a light duty outdoor boot. I have a really hard time finding anything that feels good on my feet. Since it was warm I didn't wear them much all summer as they have a little insulation & were too warm. Now we've been thru a fall and well into real winter here in bush Alaska, and I'm growing more and more pleased with these boots. They are quite light weight, easy to lace quickly and grip well on snow and even ice. In fact the main reason I bought them was to replace some Wolverine low boots that fit well but were treacherous on ice despite their heavy treads. Recently I was clearing very wet snow in these Outbounds and noticed that my feet were staying warm and dry even in the very wet slush. When they dried out, they still looked new. I've gotten compliments on their good looks. So I rate these highly. My only concern is that at first the ankle area tended to be uncomfortable when laced firmly. I added a small gel wedge under the insole and this fixed the issue. One other thing, I have a very high arch and the supplied insole doesn't quite support it as much as I'd like. I'm still searching for the perfect insole but wear these boots daily. I suspect one of the gel insoles would work, but haven't been to town where I can try them. Edit 1-29-12. I removed the supplied insole and now use a wool felt insole (and still the gel wedge). It fits very nicely, makes them even warmer and fits the arch of my foot. Come warmer weather I may need to find another cooler insole but for now the wool felt is perfect and I am really liking these boots even to 20F below zero for limited periods of time.
